The honeybee, shown whole — not one bee but the life of the hive. Egg, larva, and pupa. The three bees: queen, worker, and drone. Comb in two forms, a queen cell, beeswax, and honey. Eleven things in all, set by hand in clear resin, in the manner of an old teaching cabinet — the largest and most instructive of the studies. Each is built from natural specimens, so the arrangement and markings vary a little, no two the same. Approx. 140 × 64 × 18 mm.
