Copenhagen carried the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo. This is the unfinished study — the horse fully painted, the rider still a faceless blank in uniform. Black frame with a ribbed gold inner lip. 5 x 7 or 12 x 16 in across the frame.

A small flag on a deep navy ground — gingham check in the canton, faded red-and-cream stripes — inside an ornate gilt frame with a carved scallop relief. 6 x 6 in across the frame, and the flag is about a fifth of that. Small on purpose. Glass-free.
