St. Bingo | Nordic Swan Candlestick, Hand-Sculpted Folk Art Ceramic

A lot of decorative ceramics now begin as a 3D file. This one began as a lump of clay. Katie, who founded St. Bingo in 2024, sculpted the swan by hand and worked through several prototypes before choosing this one. Artisans in Mexico cast it in plaster moulds taken from her original, then glaze each piece by hand.

It's modelled on the whooper swan, Finland's national bird. The neck curves down to its breast, the wing feathers are carved in, and it sits on a rope-twist collar above a flared pedestal. The taper fits into a socket in its back.

Hand glazing means the colour pools and thins a little differently on every piece. Small marks come from the making.

Blue
A pale sky-blue glaze.

Cream
A warm, glossy cream with fine speckling showing through.

  • What's included: One candlestick holder, in your choice of Blue or Cream. Candle not included
  • Material: Earthenware, cast in plaster moulds, hand-glazed with a high-fire glaze
  • Fits: Standard taper candles. If one is snug, run its base under hot water to soften it
  • Size: Approx. 5 x 3 x 6 in
  • Made in: Mexico, from St. Bingo's hand-sculpted original
  • Care: Rinse with hot water and a soft sponge to lift wax. No dishwasher, harsh cleaners or scrubbers
  • Use: Burn upright on a heat-safe surface; never leave a lit candle unattended
