A country cottage built entirely from straw. Each strip cut and laid by hand, the grain catching light the way fields do at dusk. A thatched roof, a sweep well, a fence holding back the dark ground behind.
Made by Zbigniew Lemański as Polish cottage-industry folk art and sold through Warsaw's Central Department Store — the original tag still on the back, dated February 1959. Set in a gilt wood frame, under glass.

Vintage · Final Sale. Straw this old holds its years lightly — a little fading, the occasional lifted strip, the natural variation of a material once living. This is the character of the original, not a defect. Sold as found.
